Politician Whose Life Was Saved By Lesbian Police Officer To Speak At National Anti-LGBT Convention

After being horribly wounded in a mass shooting earlier this year, Steve Scalise is back in Congress—and he’s already making it really hard to sympathize with him. First, he “fortified” his belief in completely open gun rights, even after being the victim of those very policies. Now he’s disgracing himself by attacking the LGBTQ+ community, even though the person who saved him and took a bullet for him, Capital Police Officer Crystal Griner, is a lesbian.

Scalise is attending Value Voters Summit, hosted every year by the Family Research Council. This is what they said about people like Officer Grinerr:

Family Research Council believes that homosexual conduct is harmful to the persons who engage in it and to society at large, and can never be affirmed. It is by definition unnatural, and as such is associated with negative physical and psychological health effects. While the origins of same-sex attractions may be complex, there is no convincing evidence that a homosexual identity is ever something genetic or inborn. We oppose the vigorous efforts of homosexual activists to demand that homosexuality be accepted as equivalent to heterosexuality in law, in the media, and in schools. Attempts to join two men or two women in “marriage” constitute a radical redefinition and falsification of the institution, and FRC supports state and federal constitutional amendments to prevent such redefinition by courts or legislatures. Sympathy must be extended to those who struggle with unwanted same-sex attractions, and every effort should be made to assist such persons to overcome those attractions, as many already have.

Now the FRC can’t wait to see Scalise again, and even mention how it’s basically a miracle he is able to attend—without mentioning who saved his life:

There were times when we wondered if House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) would ever speak at VVS again. But next week, the miraculous recovery of my good friend will literally take center stage, as Steve makes a return trip to the biggest gathering of pro-family conservatives in the country after a shooting that rocked the country. For so many Americans, seeing him back at work, defending our values, has been an answer to prayer — and we look forward to celebrating his incredible journey back to health next Friday, October 13. Don’t miss the Majority Whip and several other confirmed speakers, including Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), Michele Bachmann, Frank Wolf, the Blaze’s Dana Loesch, Dr. Bill Bennett, Todd Starnes, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Oliver North, “Duck Dynasty’s” Phil Robertson, Brigitte Gabriel, actors Kevin and Sam Sorbo, Dr. Carol Swain, David Daleiden, Lila Rose, and more. Don’t miss a weekend in D.C. with thousands of fellow conservatives.

In the past, Scalise has campaigned for white nationalists, refused to recognize Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and described himself as “David Duke without the baggage.” Now he’ll be the guy who was wounded in a mass shooting and defended the shooter while condemning the officer who saved him for being a lesbian.

  1. The office is too big for everything but Trump’s ego. If you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen.
