Days ago, billboards from the American Institute, an English language school, with Melania Trump’s face appeared up in Zagreb, Croatia, making international headlines. With the quote, “Just imagine how far you can go with a little bit of English,” the signs apparently struck a mocking tone, as Melania’s lawyers to demand the signs be removed.

By Tuesday, the billboards had been removed on the heels of Trump’s lawyers’ threats.
“We are very sorry that the billboards were misunderstood as something intended to mock the U.S. First Lady,” Ivis Buric, spokeswoman for American Institute said. “It was meant to be something positive, to show her as a role model.”
Despite the fact that the signs could indeed have been perceived as positive, it is not out of character for a Trump to strong-arm an institution if they feel slighted. Donald is notorious for his litigious past; Melania is simply taking cues from her husband.
It’s possible, however, that Melania’s lawyers demanded the signs be removed because they draw attention to the fact that the most anti-immigrant president in U.S. modern history has, of course, married an immigrant. Hypocrisy like that is understood in every country, regardless of the language.
