All but those in Trump’s obstinate 33% job approval backstop have prayed, wished, or tried to actuate the impeachment of this president. Prominent Democrats such as Representatives Steve Cohen (TN) and Al Green (TX) have introduced articles of impeachment.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi took heat in November for telling CNN’s “State of the Union” that she wasn’t on board with the impeachment effort. Pelosi said, “It’s not someplace that I think we should go.”

The House Minority Leader isn’t the only prominent Democrat who’s remained above the impeachment fray. But there has been suspicion that the reason Democrats at the highest level have publicly shown disinterest in all impeachment efforts is that they don’t want to be seen as persecuting President Trump.
The fact is that if Mueller’s investigating bears fruit regarding Trump himself, any family members, or further members of his administration — we will be facing a constitutional crisis unlike anything we have ever seen.
Back in October, Gabriel Sherman reported for Vanity Fair that former White House Chief Strategist and BFF Steve Bannon had given Trump a 30% chance of working of completing his first term. Bannon, however, did not believe Trump would require impeachment. He reportedly believes that the president will be removed under the 25th Amendment. Mr. Sherman cited several sources close to the president.
So, why, then do some at the top of the Democratic party want to hedge bets with respect to impeachment, but aren’t going quite so far as to hush other Democrats? Because they feel something is coming and want to be prepared. Selecting Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) as the ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee was seen as “the clearest sign yet of how seriously House Democrats consider the possibility of a full-blown constitutional showdown with Trump.”
After the vote to select Nadler, Senate Minority leader, Chuck Shumer said “There is nobody better prepared, if the president messes around with the Constitution, to handle it than Jerry Nadler.”
Clearly, the Democrats have a plan. Even if we aren’t seeing many at the top-level call for impeachment, they are handling business and making preparations behind the scenes.
